My Story

Judith Henry

Welcome. So glad you’ve found my creative patch of soil on the Web. If you’d like to know more about who you’re spending time with here’s the scoop.

For the past few years, I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery that includes creating art, writing, teaching, and even gardening!

The catalyst for all this was the experience of caring for both my parents in the final phase of their lives - something akin to a roller coaster ride in the dark, but with moments of joy, laughter, and deep connection. From that life-changing time, I wrote a book of lessons learned so other adult children might feel supported, understood, and less alone.

Although writing was in my blood, there was this hunger to explore thoughts and feelings beyond words, something more visual, drenched in color and light. So, in 2016, I picked up my mother’s well-worn brushes waiting patiently on my desk in her favorite coffee mug, and began to paint. It was love at first stroke.

As a Grade A over-thinker, making art is the one thing that happens in a judgement-free zone for me. Unlike caregiving, where we tend to second-guess our decisions (as if there was actually a perfect answer to anything), my only question has become, “Oooh, what happens if I try this!”

And that, my friends, brings me to now and JudithHenryCreative.com, where I post new artwork as it comes available, and share observations, quotes/poems, tips for living simply, and much more on my blog - LateBloomer.  I also offer a series of in-person HeART Full Creative Self Care Workshops if you’re in the Tampa Bay area and need a break from To Do Lists and the challenges of every day life. Sound interesting? Then grab a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and do a little meandering. If you enjoy what you see, let’s keep in touch. Just click here to sign up for my occasional newsletter.

You can also find me at JudithDHenry.com, my book/blog site for “The Dutiful Daughter’s Guide to Caregiving.” If you’re a caregiver, it’s definitely the place to be!

With gratitude, Judith (aka Jude)
