Where Did I Park My Car?

Where Did I Park My Car?

The other day I was wandering through the Target parking lot trying to find my car and realized that I'd officially become my mother.

A woman about my age, walking a few feet away, understood that universal look of "WTF, where did I park?" and said in solidarity, "I do that all the time. It's kind of scary."

"Yeah, especially when your car is one of at least a hundred grey Toyota Camrys,"  I said, and we both started laughing.

"Click your key fob, and see if you hear it," she suggested and I didn't have the heart to tell her my car is so old it doesn't have one.

I was relieved to finally find the car, way beyond where I thought it would be, and as I drove away my new gal pal and I both gave each other the thumbs up sign and smiled. Don’t you love when total strangers connect?

It got me thinking about my mom and the popular newspaper column back in the day, "Hints from Heloise." One time she recommended attaching a plastic flower to your car antenna so it would be easily noticeable in a crowded shopping mall. Unfortunately, everyone else read that column, too, so it turned out that not putting plastic posies on your antenna was the smarter thing to do. My mom didn’t care. She still loved the idea , and kept those flowers tied to her car for as long as she owned it.

Anyone else remember Heloise and her helpful hints? If so, care to share one?
