Christmas In April
Overwhelmed with the news last night, I decided to take a walk and go a different route to visit my favorite cats, Mickey and Luna. I hadn’t seen their owner for a few months, but we’d always greet each other with a smile and a wave. After getting blown off by both fur babies (after all, they’re cats) the owner came out and rushed over to ask if she could give me a big hug. “I’ve missed you and I have something to give you,” she said. “It’s four months old, but I wasn’t sure where you lived to drop it off earlier. My husband and I were worried that something had happened. Are you okay?” She came back out with the most beautiful handmade Christmas card, complete with a little Mickey face on the front and a lovely note inside. It made me cry. She asked for my address and we talked for a few more minutes, and I walked home feeling so much better.
I’m not a unicorn and pink rainbow kind of person and everything is not sweetness and light; but in the midst of darkness, beautiful moments can still be found. That gives me hope, and I’ll take it every time.
